Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow

What an amazing experience the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow proved to be.  Everything about the Games was superb, the village, the mix of athletes, the venues, the weather (mostly!) but most of all the people of Scotland.

Shaun once again travelled as a team coach for the Guyana cycling team, whilst Claire Fraser-Green represented her country in both the time trial and road race.

The results were not as good as we'd hoped but the team did their best on tough race routes, and in difficult weather.  The road race course in particular was totally unsuitable for this type of competition, when the small countries have paid for their riders to travel, and in some cases only ride a single 14km loop.  Our team faired much better than that due to their high level of preparation, but it did put a dampner on the Games, quite literally!

A great Games though, we met some of our sporting heroes, made new friends and were sad to leave.  Next stop the Gold Coast....................
